I am a retiree
And what a great discovery
That a simple life can bring
Just as many thrills and trills
The lush and the lavish
I no longer can afford
The good things that I cherish
Are at minimal cost
Opportunity is created
In the recipes shared
To sizzle up a meal
And enjoy with whom we treasure
Home-made gift is a charm
It gladdens the maker
Heartens the giver
And delights the recipient
So...nothing cheers me more
Than to sizzle away with stitches of love
And jottings to share with one and all
